Excursions
Our approach
In our makerspace, we believe that children learn best through hands-on learning and play. We strive to support and encourage unstructured and independent play as much as possible by eliminating unnecessary instruction and adult-led “activities.”

Our stations don’t require explanations; students will, for the most part, understand, be challenged, or feel inspired to play immediately. We encourage educators to let students make their own choices about where and how long to engage at each station. A heads-up: some children may become deeply engaged at a particular station for extended periods!

Within the makerspace, students have the chance to explore messy making and meaningful play. We believe in age-appropriate, process-focused making. This means the experience of creating is more important than the final product. No step-by-step, identical artwork is created here. Our makerspace provides the materials, space, and time for students to explore their interests at their own pace.
